Bay View’s Education Program
Bay View’s Education Program enables students of all ages to make learning a lifelong pursuit. We host a diverse array of classes, lectures, films, group discussions, special events and performances. Educational activities begin in May and end in October, with most events scheduled during the 8-week Assembly Season from mid-June to mid-August. All classes and events are open to the public, and many are free of charge.
Curricular areas include culinary arts, health and wellness, fine arts and crafts, book clubs, current events discussion groups, kids’ classes, and our new multi-disciplinary offerings which combine two or more program areas such as Education + Performing Arts.

Julia grew up coming to Bay View for church, concerts, musicals, movies, and hot dog roasts, though her family’s cottage was on Crooked Lake. With children of her own, she first rented in Bay View and then bought a cottage in 2012. Son Andrew and daughter Emma attended Club from Tot Lot on, eventually working as leaders for several years.
Julia served as Chair of Cottage Walk 2015, and President of Morning Council from 2016-2018. She is currently an at-large member of the Woman’s Council board, a five-year member of the Education Committee and a four-year member of the Long Range Planning Committee.
Professionally, Julia works as a development writer for the Cleveland State University Foundation; before that, she wrote for the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing Development Office at Case Western Reserve University.
She has also worked at a variety of consulting firms including Towers Watson in Cleveland, William Mercer in Philadelphia, and Lochridge & Company in Boston. She was a high-school English teacher in Grosse Pointe, MI for four years and earned her B.A. in English from the Honors College at the University of Michigan.
